Lars Reutersward, PhD, the director of the Global Division, UN-HABITAT and his colleague Rolf Wichmann, the chief of office of the Executive Director paid their visit to China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce (CRECC) on Feb.21, 2006.

Since year 2001, the Chamber has been dedicated to promoting ecological housing standers and demonstration projects and has acquired significant results. From year 2003, CRECC joint hands with China-U.S. Center for Sustainable Development to design and put into effect sustainable development projects in China, and has completed new town sustainable planning amounting to about 100 square kilometers in six cities in China. Upon approval of National Office of Science and Technology Awards，CRECC set up the Housing Elite Sci-Tech Award (HESTA) and successfully organized evaluation and awarding in the year 2004 and 2005. Last year, CRECC also cooperated with related governmental and financial organizations to find out solutions for key issues concerning houses for low income families in view of current real estate market situation in     

Professor Nie, the president of CRECC introduced the above mentioned situation to the two officials of UN-HABITAT. The guest offered high appraisal.

In the afternoon, Mr Reutersward and Mr Wichmann visited the Huilongguan district and the Longzeyuan district. The guests took interest in the plan and design, the technology of the environment protection of the two districts.
